did you tighten to 30lbft, then tighten 1/4 of a turn, then insert split pin?

car has now snapped 2 motosport hubs in a week with new bearings only that has changed is a new gearbox from f20 to a vectra f18 got me baffled

tighten up with impact driver and back off a little bit and then put pin in should do the trick

take the shafts off with the hub carriers sell them and get gsi shafts with hub carriers and cav 1.6 inner cvs to stop it happening. the motorsport shaftis a bit too long which is causing this
