first it stopped connecting to the computer, wont do anything when i plug it in to computer, will charge ok though.
now the vibrate function has stopped working?
any ideas or is it goosed?

Should of got a ......(Insert rival phone).
Only thing I can think of it a firmware restore? Just take it to apple, they are usually quite good.

wont go into dfu mode, the computer wont recognise its plugged in at all. i've jailbroken it a while ago so guessing apple will say stfu

I wouldn't do that if it wont connect to a computer. There could be a hardware issue! I think you're going to have to take it to be repaired somewhere...
