Today i removed the cylinder head from the 1.7d engine in my 1996 Combo van so it can go to be skimmed. (Headgasket failure) The engine is at TDC and the camshaft pulley and injection pulley were locked into place with m6 and m8 bolts. Once i removed the head i noticed two valves were slightly open, one on cylinder 2 and one on cylinder 3, my question is should all valves be closed and how will they go about skimming the head with two open valves.
